Welcome to the website of the Royal Scottish Forestry Society; we do hope that you like it.
The Excursion was a huge success and we would like to thank the South West team who put it together for us. There is a massive effort that goes into organising such events. Work is well under way for the Excursion 2011 which will visit Ireland. Details will be circulated with the autumn edition of Scottish Forestry.
Work will shortly begin on one or two new features for the site. We are considering a discussion board for the website. Topical issues could be debated in a live environment. One of the benefits of the RSFS is that we have a large membership; a downside of this is that we are geographically dispersed. We should all be able to contribute to the debate regardless of location, so tell us if you think it would be a good idea by taking about 10 seconds to vote in the poll to the left of this bulletin.
Remember to check in the events calendar. It even has links to maps of where events are to take place. Regional Chairs and Secretaries please pass you events programmes to the web admin (click on the link to create an email).
We are still looking for volunteers to write information sheets. These should target relatively lay individuals or be for use by schools. Subjects might include: woodland walks (fostering interest), Douglas Fir (particular species), Coppicing (old skills at risk).
