The Annual Excursion 2010 is being held in Galloway from 23 May to 27 May.
An excellent programme has been prepared by the South West Region which gives a flavour of the variety of forest in this productive area of Scotland.

Galloway Forest Park - FCS A long day visit to a major forest with a large annual timber production and major tourist and conservation interests. The route will take you through the heart of the Galloway Hills along routes generally inaccessible to the general public in motor vehicles. |

Howies Sawmill, Dalbeattie A modern, high throughput sawmill, one of the largest in Europe, with ancillary production. |
| Afternoon |
Shambellie Estate A long established woodland estate with spectacular trees and an interesting house and museum. |
| Thursday 27th May |
| Morning |
Drumlanrig Estate Visit to the Duke of Buccleuch’s estate in the Nith Valley looking at the largest scheduled Designed Landscape in Scotland and the Continuous Cover forestry within it, the first Douglas Fir in Scotland and a Douglas Fir Seed Stand. On the route home for those heading North. |
